This left-handed guitar combines the features of the powerful lattice brace, elevated fretboard and one acoustic port. This is the goal of New Masters, to bring an affordable concert guitar that incorporates developments of the new masters of guitar building.
Okay, a word about lefties and the white meat of chicken. Is there any more dark meat on a chicken? Is the white meat so rare? Why do we get charged more for white meat? Ever debone a chicken and separate the white from the dark and weigh them? I have and with my powerful forensic tools I have determined that there is a tiny bit more dark meat but not enough to constitute the grave price differences between a thigh and a breast piece at KFC, not that I eat KFC because I choose to live!
Get my point? It costs no more to have a left handed classical guitar made than a right handed one. The builder just stands on his head and looks into a mirror while working on the instrument and maybe spends a bit more on aspirin because the blood rushes to his head while constructing. I send aspirin to China, true it is kind of expensive, but I will not pass this cost to you poor lefties. So I'm going to lower the cost of this guitar and will not ever charge a lefty for nature's choice.
China has been making the best violin family instruments for the last three decades, best for the price and usability and the guitar now is no different. This guitar is committee made, that is by luthiers in a shop rather than a factory. New Masters chose the best of the shops with smaller outputs so quality would not be an issue.
The Acalanto model is what you'd expect from a cedar and Indian rosewood guitar, a guitar of great tonal width and clarity. This guitar uses Western Red Cedar with tight grain from tortured winters in high elevations.
Look at the tightness of this top. It is extremely silky and this highlights the premium quality of this top.
The sound of this guitar is clear, sweet, loud and open. Using sound ports, the guitar is more open than you will usually find in new spruce. Coupled with an elevated fretboard, which changes the neck angle slightly for a different and more vibrant approach into the soundboard, The Acalanto is a blaster with amazing balance and clarity.

A note on truss rods: The absurdity of NOT placing a truss rod in a guitar is apparent. Ever had a warped neck? The truss rod is not a "traditional" Spanish feature and I have come to the conclusion that a classical guitar without a truss rod is like a day without sunshine. It does not add to the weight, since it is a low density rod, it does not change the sound (how could it?) and it saves you a whole lot of headache and expense if your neck does happen to warp. Since The Vienna and most New Masters come with modern features the truss rod will be present.
As a performer myself this is certainly my kind of guitar; bold and wide in tonal response with dead evenness throughout the range and a loud delivery that commands attention. The playability is pronounced with a medium action for push and no buzzes.
Power is a great concern for the classical guitar. This guitar is very POWERFUL! With the width of the tonal palette and this kind of power, this guitar is an affordable concert instrument with beauty and command.
This is a fantastic package for the professional or the student. Coupled with a hard shell case you'd expect to pay two to twelve thousand dollars from a builder with these features. Now is the time to get the quality and features at a lower price.
